First, a bit of history.
When I went to see my PCP last fall to get a referral for WLS, I weighed 367 pounds and had a BMI of 61 -- super, super morbidly obese.
On 24 March 2005, the morning of my surgery, I weighed 357 and had a BMI of 60.1. Still super super morbidly obese. (yes, super super is a real medical designation...very nice).
This morning, 10 September 2005, I weighed 256.6 and have a BMI of 42! I've lost 100 pounds since my surgery and 110 since my high weight.
I'm so excited! As you can see, I even took a picture of the scale! My next big milestone is also close -- getting below 250. I'm confident I can do that by the end of the month. Though I know I'm not going to keep losing 2 pounds a day.
Yes, I know that being 256.6 doesn't make me any sort of skinny minny. In fact, my BMI is still high enough to qualify me for surgery (a very sobering thought when I consider how large I must have been). But I feel 1000 times better then I did just 5.5 months ago.
I'd like to get my weight down to 150 (why, I'm not sure -- it just sounds right). They say the weight loss window is 18 months. If that's true, then I have another 12.5 months to lose 106 pounds. That wouldn't even seem possible except that the first 100 is already gone.
Can you see me smiling? I am!
Hey Girl-
You are looking fabulous!!! The amazing shrinking Ezpy.
A hundred pounds just sounds like a magic faraway number to me. You are doing great. You should take another pic in that purple top you wore a few months ago see the difference.
I can see a difference and feel a difference, but it is not showing up on the scale much :-(.
Keep the good news coming because it has been a banner week over there.
Congratulations on the 100!

I know, it does sound like a long way away. Even a couple months ago I would have said the same.
Being able to see a difference on your body is even more important than being able to see it on the scale. Well, I think so anyway. I think I started going by the scale because it took losing 50 pounds before I could actually see much of a difference (look at my first couple months of pictures for proof). I'd lost 80 before anyone who didn't know I had surgery even noticed I'd lost.
The scale was my friend then. But it is fickle. If you scroll through the entries for this month, you'll see I was at 261 for almost 2 weeks despite being very good with my food, water and exercise. But now I've lost 7 pounds in 4 days. Crazy.
I'll have to dig out that shirt. Not having clothes I like fit anymore is the one sad thing about all of this. Er, not that I want the weight loss to stop, of course.
Thanks for your good thoughts. You're doing really well too. It must be getting to be time for more pictures soon.
